PFEIFFER FAMILY PHOTOS AT TURTLE ROCK COMMUNITY PARK

A young boy with a joyful smile poses for a portrait with his brother in a park.

I’ve been photographing Natasha and her family for the past five years, and this session at Turtle Rock Community Park in Irvine was no different—fast-paced, full of energy, and easy to shoot. The boys are older now, which makes things smoother (but still unpredictable in the best way). Natasha always comes prepared with outfits and keeps the mood light. We wrapped it in about two hours and covered plenty of ground—open space, good light, and no crowds. If you're looking for family photography sessions in Irvine, this park is always a solid choice.

Why This Park Works Great For Family Photos

PLENTY OF SPACE

The park has everything you need close by: wooden bridges, a creek, simple trails, and clean backdrops that don’t look busy. We didn’t have to walk far to get a mix of looks. For a family like the Pfeiffers, that means less downtime and more useable images in less time.

EVEN LIGHTING AND SHADE

Not every session happens at golden hour, and this park holds up well no matter the time. Between the tall trees and the open layout, it’s easy to find consistent lighting—whether we’re mid-morning or late afternoon. For this session, that meant less adjusting and more shooting.

DIFFERENT BACKDROPS

Turtle Rock Community Park covers over 25 acres, so there’s no shortage of open space to shoot in. The big grass fields make it easy to space things out and keep a session flowing, especially with kids. The shaded walkways also give you solid options if the light is harsh or you need a quick change of scene without breaking pace.

Session Details & Pricing

I. WHAT WE COVERED

We met at Turtle Rock Community Park on a weekday afternoon and kept it simple: one location, two outfits, and a steady pace. The full session ran just under two hours and covered multiple spots in the park without rushing or doubling back. The final gallery included a good mix of portraits, sibling interaction, and plenty of movement. If you're looking for other ideas nearby, check out this Jeffrey Open Space Trail family session.

All family photography sessions in Irvine include up to two hours of coverage, outfit changes if needed, and a curated digital gallery delivered within two weeks. No extra charges for location or family size. Pricing is straightforward and stays the same whether we shoot in Irvine or somewhere nearby.

II. SESSION PRICING

To lock in a session, a 50% retainer is required. Weekday afternoons tend to be quieter at parks like Turtle Rock, which makes them a solid choice for families with younger kids. If you’re looking for holiday photos or just need updated portraits, reach out early—especially during fall.

III. HOW TO BOOK

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, that’s totally fine—as long as everyone’s on the same page about timing and pacing. If the group gets too large, I’ll usually suggest a few smaller combinations to make the session run smoother.

  • Neutrals and earth tones work well here. Since there’s a mix of trees, grass, and wooden fences, I usually recommend avoiding bright neon or heavy patterns. Natasha always brings a solid second option, which helps if something doesn’t photograph right.

  • Gallery turnaround is usually within two weeks. If it’s peak season (fall), it may take closer to three. I always send a few previews within the first couple days so you’re not waiting in the dark.

  • I shoot at Turtle Rock year-round. Fall tends to be busier with holiday sessions, but it works just as well in spring or early summer. The trees hold up through most seasons, and the park is rarely too crowded.
